Lateral Hire Full-Time Police Officers
The City of Troy is accepting applications to create eligibility for lateral hires to serve as full-time police officers. Requirements: Certificate attesting to successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course, US Citizen, good moral character and able to physically perform the essential job functions, speak and understand English, and completed at least two years as a full-time sworn officer in any municipal, county, university, or state law enforcement agency, with transferrable enforcement training course or its equivalent. Lateral hires with 2 ½ years full time police experience will start at a base pay of $72,108, two weeks of vacation in addition to receiving personal and sick time. Troy Police Department has many special assignment divisions such as a K9 program, motorcycle officers, School Resource Officer, investigations, and an undercover narcotics officer. Troy PD is a member of the ILEAS Special Response Team and Mobile Field Force, Major Case, Child Death Investigations Task Force and Secret Service Southern IL Financial and Cyber Crimes Task Force. Full-Time Police Officers
The City of Troy is accepting applications to update an eligibility list for the position of Full-Time Probationary Police Officer. Applicants must be a United States Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and must be able to complete and pass a written, physical, and psychological testing. A polygraph exam and a comprehensive background will also be completed. Applicants must not have a Felony Conviction.
Applicants for police officers who are twenty (20) years of age and successfully completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university and have not reached their 35th birthday shall be eligible to take the initial examination for probationary police officer. Any applicant who is twenty (20) years of age and appointed to active duty shall not have the power of arrest, nor be permitted to carry firearms, until he reaches twenty-one (21) years of age. Applicants who are twenty-one (21) years of age, or older, must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent high school education certificate and either 1) an Associate’s Degree in law enforcement or criminal justice from any accredited junior or community college; 2) a Bachelor’s Degree in any field from an accredited college or university; or 3) be currently certified as having successfully completed the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course, as provided for in the Illinois Police Training Act. Applicants who have not yet received their degree as required by either (1) or (2) but demonstrate proof they have completed all the requirements to obtain the degree, may be considered for employment.
Police officers must reside within 30 miles (straight line) from the city limits.
Starting base salary is $70,698.48

Full-time Police Telecommunicator

Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age, no criminal history, experience preferred, self-motivated, good communication skills, must be able to multi-task and work shift-work.
